Jerusalem Tree
A tree represents Torah growing up from Jerusalem symbolizing the verse: "Ki MiTzion Tetze Torah" (Torah comes forth from Zion).
This tree takes the form of the Hebrew letter shin- one of each of its three main branches is shared with a shin of the quote of Rabbi Akiva telling his students that all the Torah that he has gained is because of his wife's efforts: "SHeli VeSHalachem, SHelah Hu" (What is mine and what is yours, is truly hers). The alliteration of this quote, paired with the lyrical branches of the tree, reflects the strong musical sense of the recipient of this papercut.
The theme of the number three - seen in the branches as well as the border framing the tree - emphasizes the three generations of the recipient's family who learn Torah regularly.
