Seattle Skyline
Seattle Skyline

The theme of "Lev" (a heart) was used to represent the 32nd year of school that commissioned this papercut for their honorees. The image of the heart is encircled by three concentric rings:

Ring 1: A skyline of Seattle with the Northwest Yeshiva logo at its highest point represents the central role of Yeshiva plays as an educational hub of the Seattle Jewish community.

Ring 2: A verse from Pirkei Avot: "Al shlosha devarim haolam omed: al haTorah, ve'al ha'avodah, ve'al gemilut chasadim", (The world stand upon these three things: Torah, action, and acts of kindness). The recipient's dedication to the Yeshiva and the Seattle Jewish community serves as a model these three ideals.

Ring 3: A skyline of Jerusalem symbolizes Israel as the heart of the Jewish world. Imbedded in this skyline are three images to reflect the verse in Prikei Avot: a Torah scroll, a Chamsa (a hand represents action), and a Tzedakah box to symbolize an act of chesed (kindness).
