Description:

This papercut design is a metaphor for Hope and Freedom.  As the words of HaTikva say: L’hiyot am chofshi b’artzenu ~ to be a free people in our own Homeland.  This has been our dream as a nation for thousands of years.  We can only celebrate living as a free nation on Yom Ha’Atamaut after the loss that we commemorate on Yom HaZikaron.  We first remember and honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.  The flowers in this design are Pirchei Bar (wildflowers) native to Israel that grow freely throughout our beautiful land.  Like the butterfly breaks free from its chrysalis, these flowers burst into bloom from rocky hillsides and forgotten fields. As a nation we move together – M’afela L’ora – from darkness into the light.
